Janus Family Representative Michael W. Janus was born in Charleston, SC on July 27, 1966 to Dr. & Mrs. John T. Janus. Dr. Janus was a Captain in the United States Navy and through this profession; Representative Janus had the opportunity to live in such communities as Adak, AK; Jacksonville, FL and Naples, Italy. Upon Dr. Janus’ retirement, the family moved to Biloxi, MS where they have resided for the past twenty-nine years.

Representative Janus graduated from Biloxi High School in 1984 and accepted a scholastic scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi where he attended for three years. Following the death of his Father in 1987, he transferred to the University of South Alabama where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 1989 with a duel minor in History and English. To further his education, Michael enrolled in the University of Mississippi and received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration in 1992.

Since 1995, Representative Michael W. Janus has served in the Mississippi Legislature as a member of the House of Representatives (District 117). Through this time span in elected office he has served in several positions, most notably as President of the Mississippi Legislative Conservative Coalition; a Telecommunications & Information Technology Taskforce member for the American Legislative Exchange Council and Vice Chairman of the House Marine Resources Committee.

In the private sector, Representative Janus is employed with Tenix Holdings, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of the Tenix Group, Australia’s largest privately owned defense and applied technology company. He currently maintains the position of President. In this role Michael is responsible for the well being and performance of all U.S.-based personnel. This includes: Human resources, accounting/finance, marketing a select number of Tenix’s technology products in the U.S. and ensuring that a high-level of cooperation and interaction with the U.S. Federal Government is maintained.

Representative Janus resides in Biloxi, MS, is married to the former Nathalie Cousins of D’Iberville and they have two children; Hannah age nine and Sarah age eight. He has and continues to be involved in numerous civic and professional activities on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A few of the most notable activities include: past Vice-President of Economic Development for the Biloxi-Bay Chamber; past Board Member of the MS Coast Chamber; past President and current Board Member of the Boys & Girls Club of the Gulf Coast Corporate Board; past President and current Board Member of the Kiwanis Club of Biloxi; a member of Leadership Gulf Coast 2000; 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus; District Chairman of the Boy Scouts, Biloxi Bay District; a Sun Herald’s Top10 Business Leader Under 40 and a past President of the Southern Rapid Rail Transit Commission.
